My first post

Hello, this will be my first post to my new blog about classical guitar, and other forms of art. My goal with this blog is to share my love for the music of the romantic and Spanish guitar.

First off, let me say a little about myself:
I am a 23 year old college student, my college being in Iowa. I've lived most of my life in northern Illinois. I have been playing the guitar for almost six years. I have been studying classical guitar technique and repertoire for almost a year and a half. I have fallen in love with the music and the style of playing associated with what is commonly known as the Spanish Guitar. I love both the classical and romantic periods of guitar music. My favorite classical composers include Mauro Giuliani and Fernando Sor. My favorite romantic composer is Ferdinand Carulli.

It is my goal to reach a high level of professionalism with my technique in the next two years. Currently I am at an intermediate to advanced level in my studies. The song that I am currently working on is Asturias (Leyenda), written by Isaac Albeniz (transposed by Francisco Tarrega). I feel that when I have advanced enough to play this song almost flawlessly in its entirety I will be at a good level in my technique.

Song of the day: Asturias (Leyenda)
